White Burgundy, Chardonnay. Pouilly-Fuisse sits in the Maconnais at the southern end of Burgundy, and it is where people go when they want a white Burgundy with a bit of weight to it without reaching for the Cote de Beaune names everyone recognises.

That makes it a straightforward bottle to keep around. Bring it to a seafood dinner, put it on the table with a roast chicken, or hand it over as a gift when the person drinks white and you do not want to overthink it.

Tasting notes

Maconnais Chardonnay usually shows ripe citrus and orchard fruit with a rounder mid-palate than a lean northern white. Typically good with prawns, steamed fish, chicken or creamy sauces.
