Village-level Beaune, Pinot Noir. Beaune reds are usually the softer and rounder end of the Cote de Beaune, which is what makes them easy to put on a table without much fuss or a long wait in the glass.

If red Burgundy has always felt like a subject you needed to study first, a village Beaune is a reasonable place to start drinking instead of reading. Pull it out for a mid-week dinner with roast chicken and you will get the idea.

Tasting notes

Beaune Pinot Noir usually shows red cherry and a light earthy edge, with gentle tannin and fresh acidity. Typically good with chicken, duck, mushrooms or pork.
