La Reserve de Leoville Barton 2013 is the second wine of Chateau Leoville Barton, a Saint-Julien Second Growth (1855). The official estate sheet gives a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, 13% alcohol, from young vines and plots not selected for the Grand Vin. Fruit was hand-harvested from 2 to 14 October and aged 16–18 months in one-wine French oak barrels in a cellar held at about 15°C, on Garonne gravel facing the Gironde.
Tasting notes
The estate describes intense purple colour, an expressive nose of blackberry and roasted notes, an ample Saint-Julien structure with freshness, round supple tannins, and a long finish of fruit and toast.
This is an older vintage. It was sourced from a reliable, proven source, checked for authenticity by our in-house sommelier, and stored in our constant-temperature cellar after arrival.
