A red wine from Grace Wine in Yamanashi, the main wine prefecture in Japan, sitting near Mount Fuji. Akeno is a place name in Yamanashi printed on the label.

Japanese wine is still unusual on Hong Kong tables, so this tends to be the bottle people ask about. Bring it to a dinner with Japanese food, or give it to someone who travels to Japan often and has never thought about drinking the wine there.

Tasting notes

Japanese reds are generally on the lighter, more restrained side rather than big and extracted, which usually makes them easier to match with delicate food. Serve slightly cool.
