Grace Vineyard Tasya's Reserve Marselan 2019 (1x75cl)

A Chinese red from Grace Vineyard in Shanxi, made from Marselan, a crossing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. It is the grape that has quietly become China's calling card, and it usually sits between the structure of Cabernet and the riper, rounder fruit of Grenache.

Interesting bottle to bring to a dinner where everyone has been drinking the same French labels for years, and it holds up next to Chinese food better than most imported reds. Try it with braised beef, roast duck, or anything with soy and star anise.

Tasting notes

Marselan typically shows blackberry and plum with a savoury, slightly herbal edge and a touch of spice, medium to full body, and tannin that is firm but not drying. Usually best with a short decant.
