Domaine Denis Mortet Fixin Vieilles Vignes 2022 (1x75cl)

A village-level red Burgundy from Fixin in the Cote de Nuits, made from Pinot Noir. The label says Vieilles Vignes, meaning old vines. Fixin sits at the northern end of the Cote de Nuits and its reds usually have a firmer, more earthy character than the softer villages further south.

At 2022 this is young, so either give it plenty of air now or leave it a few years. Burgundy suits Cantonese food surprisingly well: try it with roast goose, soy chicken or mushroom dishes. Serve it cool, around 14-16°C, not room temperature in a Hong Kong summer. Free delivery in Hong Kong over HK$800, flat HK$80 below that, no minimum order.

Tasting notes

Pinot Noir from this part of Burgundy typically shows red cherry, raspberry, a little forest floor and a firm mineral edge, with light to medium tannins and fresh acidity. Young bottles usually need air.
