Chevalier de Lascombes 2021 (1x75cl)

Chevalier de Lascombes is the second wine of Château Lascombes, a Second Growth of Margaux.

Why 2021. A cooler, more difficult growing season after a run of hot years. The wines came out lighter, fresher and lower in alcohol — a return to classic Bordeaux proportions. Serious critics called it a winemaker's vintage, and at the second-wine level it is the easiest of the recent years to drink young.

What that means for you. If you find modern Bordeaux too ripe and too heavy, this is the vintage to try. It is also the better match for Cantonese food, where a lighter red works and a big one does not.

When to drink it. Now. Twenty minutes in a decanter is enough. Roast pork, duck, a weeknight table.
