Chateau Potensac 2006 (1x150cl)

A magnum is two normal bottles in one piece of glass, and because there's less air relative to wine, large formats typically age more slowly. So a 2006 magnum often shows a bit fresher than the same wine in 75cl.

Practically speaking, this is a bottle for six to eight people - a family dinner, a Mid-Autumn table, a group where a single bottle disappears in ten minutes. Nearly twenty years in, so stand it upright a day ahead and decant off the sediment.

Tasting notes

Left bank Bordeaux blends are usually Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot based, typically showing dark berry, cedar and a little earth. Around twenty years of age generally softens the tannins and shifts the fruit toward dried plum and tobacco, though large formats often hold their fruit a while longer.
