Chateau Pontet Canet 2011 (1x75cl)

Pontet-Canet is a Fifth Growth of Pauillac and one of the very few classified Bordeaux estates farmed biodynamically. The estate has been rated well above its 1855 classification for two decades.

Why 2011. A mid-weight vintage between the great 2009 and 2010 pair and the difficult 2013. The wines are firmer and fresher than the hot years, with less flesh — classically Pauillac in shape, and they come round earlier.

When to drink it. Now, decanted a full hour. Red meat, lamb, aged hard cheese.

How it compares. 2008 is the more complete wine and fully mature; 2011 is fresher and more upright.
