Saint-Estephe is among the firmer, more structured corners of the Medoc, and this one has had nearly thirty years to lose its hard edges. Wine at this age isn't about power any more, it's about what's left after the fruit steps back.

Tasting notes

Well-kept aged Saint-Estephe typically turns towards dried fruit, leather, mushroom and tea leaf, with tannins that have usually gone quiet, though every old bottle differs.
