Château Lascombes is a Second Growth of Margaux, classified in 1855.

Why 2020. The third hot year in a row, but a cool, wet late spring and a well-timed August rain kept the acidity. Critics rate it alongside 2018 and 2019 — ripe fruit, but with more lift and freshness than 2018.

How it compares. Riper than 2021, fresher than 2018. If you want one recent vintage that does both, this is it.

When to drink it. Young. Decant ninety minutes if you open it now, or hold ten years. Red meat, lamb, aged cheese.
