Château Lascombes is a Second Growth of Margaux, classified in 1855.

Why 2017. A late-April frost cut yields across Bordeaux, but the Margaux estates that escaped it made fresh, classically shaped wines. 2017 sits between the two celebrated years either side of it — 2016 and 2018 — and it is priced accordingly, which is the opportunity.

What that means for you. Lighter and more aromatic than 2018, ready far sooner than 2016. This is the classified Margaux to open this year rather than store.

When to drink it. Now, decanted an hour. Lamb, duck, mushroom dishes, aged cheese.
