Chateau la Tour Carnet 2018 (1x75cl)

La Tour Carnet is a Fourth Growth of the Haut-Médoc, classified in 1855, and one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux — parts of the château date to the twelfth century. It is owned by Bernard Magrez.

Why it sells here. It is the cheapest way into an 1855 classified growth on our list. A recipient can look up the name and find a real classification behind it, which is not true of most Bordeaux at this price.

The vintage. 2018 was a hot, dry year in Bordeaux that produced ripe, generous wines with plenty of structure. This is a vintage built to be enjoyed young as well as kept.

When to drink it. Now, decanted for an hour, or hold for another five to ten years. Red meat, braises, hard cheese.
