Chateau D'Issan, Margaux 2021 (1x75cl)

Chateau D'Issan 2021 is a Margaux red from an estate classified as a Third Growth in 1855 (Cruse family). The official estate vintage sheet gives a Grand Vin blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot, aged in 50% new French barrels, at 13.18% alcohol. Harvest ran from 27 September to 9 October 2021 — Merlot from 27 September, Malbec and Petit Verdot on 30 September, Cabernet Franc on 2 October, Cabernet Sauvignon 4–9 October — with parcel vinification in the gravity-fed cellar and blending on 18 January with consultant Éric Boissenot. Plots near the Gironde were spared April frost.

Tasting notes

The estate notes an excellent Cabernet vintage with balance between density and elegance of tannins, and early tastings that recall the profile of 2014.
