Chateau Cos D'Estournel, St. Estephe 2006 (1x75cl)

Cos d'Estournel is a Second Growth of Saint-Estèphe — the estate with the pagoda towers, one of the most recognisable châteaux in Bordeaux.

Why 2006. A classic, firmly structured vintage rather than a ripe one. On the Left Bank it produced wines built on tannin and acidity, which needed time — and at close to twenty years, that time has now been served.

When to drink it. Now. Decant a full hour; the structure is still there. Beef, lamb, game, aged hard cheese.

How it compares. 2007 is lighter and softer. 2006 is the more serious wine of the two.
