A Bordeaux blend from 2010, which means 15 years in bottle before it reaches your table. That's the main reason to buy something like this rather than a current release — the wine has already done part of the waiting for you.

Stand it upright for a day, then decant carefully off any sediment. It suits a proper dinner, and an aged Bordeaux is one of the more reliably well-received gifts in Hong Kong when you don't know someone's taste in detail.

Tasting notes

Bordeaux blends usually show blackcurrant and plum in youth, and after 15 years wines of this type typically move towards dried fruit, cedar, tobacco and earthy notes with softer tannins. Bottles of this age do vary.
