Branaire-Ducru sits in Saint-Julien on Bordeaux's left bank, an area people usually describe as the balanced middle ground — structured, but not as tight as some of its neighbours. The 2014 has had ten years in bottle, so it is drinking rather than sleeping.

Tasting notes

Bordeaux blends from Saint-Julien typically show blackcurrant, dark cherry and cedar, with graphite and tobacco notes appearing as the wine ages. Tannins are usually firm but fine-grained. Decant for about an hour and serve around 17°C with red meat or roast lamb.
