Charles Heidsieck's Brut Réserve is built on an unusually high proportion of reserve wines — older vintages held back and blended in. That is the house's defining decision, and it is why this bottle tastes richer than most non-vintage brut at the price.

When to drink it. Serve at 8–10°C. It has enough substance for the table, not just the aperitif hour.

Is it worth it? Among people who drink champagne regularly, this is one of the most consistently recommended non-vintage bottles. Less famous than the biggest names, which is exactly why it costs what it costs.
