Average age of vines 50 years. Grapes grown in the commune of Magny-lès-Villers, plots "Les Mailles", "La Flie", and "Sous le Mont" join together with grapes from the commune of Villers-la-Faye, plot "Les Chasserots", to produce the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. A spicier and slightly more deeply pitched nose of plum, black cherry and similarly subtle earth influence gives way to bigger and richer medium weight flavors that also possess fine tension on the impressively long finish. This isn’t quite as refined but there is a bit more here and this too is an excellent Bourgogne that will need at least 2 to 3 years of patience. One to buy.
